Where spatial intelligence matters.
Seven scenarios where coordinated aerial sensing and a shared spatial picture could help people make better decisions. Each describes the challenge, the proposed approach, the human role and the limitations.
Operational challenge
Search areas are large, terrain is difficult and time matters. Ground teams need to know which ground has been searched, how well, and where to look next.
Proposed approach
Divide the search area into sectors, fly coordinated coverage patterns, and flag thermal anomalies for human review — while the coverage map records what has been seen and with what confidence.
Relevant sensors
- Thermal
- RGB
- LiDAR (terrain context)
Potential outputs
- Coverage map with confidence
- Thermal anomaly queue for review
- Sector status for ground teams
Human operator involvement
Operators review every flagged anomaly. Searchers, not software, decide where to deploy ground teams.
Limitations & deployment considerations
- Dense canopy and warm surroundings reduce thermal detection reliability.
- Airspace coordination with other responders is required.
These are intended applications and design scenarios. They do not describe existing deployments, contracts or results, and do not imply endorsement by any agency or organisation. Schematics are illustrative.
